Do not feed your pet after 10pm the night prior to surgery. If your pet has accidentally been fed, notify us immediately as we may need to postpone your pets procedure. Feeding your pet can have serious complications so please don't feed after 10pm the night before! Water however can be provided during the night and in the morning up until you leave to come to the practice.
Your pet must be admitted to the practice between 8 and 8.30am the morning of the scheduled surgery to ensure adequate preparation time.
Ensure your pet is clean. You may want to bath them the day before the procedure as you may not be allowed to get them wet for 10 days if they have sutures.
Bring your pet to the practice suitably restrained ie. cats in cages and dogs on leads.
We recommend pre-anaesthetic blood testing for all surgical patients. Further information is provided on this site in the section titled "Anaesthesia”. This blood sample can be taken on the morning of surgery and the test performed here prior to your pet's anaesthetic.
Consider having your pet microchipped while they are under anaesthetic.
A surgery consent form will need to be signed by a person 18 years or older upon admission to the practice.
Discharge appointments are made between 3pm-5pm.
Payment is required on discharge, before taking your pet home.
Prepare a quiet, comfortable place for your pet to recover at home.
If you need to reschedule your pet’s surgery, please telephone the practice at your earliest convenience.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of our nurses on 5441 3333.
