Who is Michael when he is not being a Vet?
An Iron Man! Michael competes in Iron Man Triathlons both here and abroad. Ask him what he did on the weekend and he’ll probably tell you casually that he rode 160km on his bike then ran 14km. He’s up at 4.30am training before work too! Michael also loves a good Mocha in the morning.
Michael graduated from the University of Queensland in 1993 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
Michael is an advanced surgeon, able to perform orthopaedic procedures and advanced soft tissue surgeries. He also has loads of experience with Birds & Exotics (snakes, lizards etc) and is a large animal vet. Michael is the ultimate all-round super vet! He has also visited one of the Royal Canin factories overseas and was very impressed with the quality and controls! Michael believes that good nutrition plays a big part in keeping our pets healthy.
Dr Stacey Gelis
Who is Stacey when he is not being a Vet?
When he is not at work Stacey loves spending time outdoors, often enjoying a bushwalk and some bird watching. Stacey also enjoys travelling and enjoying good food!
Stacey graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1991 with a degree in Veterinary Science. He then went on to obtain his membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Avian Medicine in 1995.
Stacey has a special interest in Avian Medicine as well as Conservation Medicine. He is also very passionate about improving the general standards of veterinary treatment and travels internationally to lecture at conferences and workshops. Stacey has also written several veterinary scientific papers and contributed chapters to several avian textbooks! He's a bird expert!
Dr Marta Dymitry
Who is Marta when she is not being a vet?
Outside of work, Marta loves spending time out in nature. She enjoys surfing, hitting or just laying on the beach. Marta recently moved from Perth so she is enjoying exploring the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
Marta completed the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University in 2018.
Marta thoroughly enjoys surgery and is looking forward to building her surgical skills in the years to come. Marta also has a keen interest for nutrition and wildlife.
Dr Calamity Jayne Ryan
Who is C-J when she's not being a vet?
Outside of vetting, C-J likes to spend time being crafty or with her own menagerie of animals. She will often bring in home baked goods to keep the team happy.
C-J graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
C-J has a strong passion for small animal surgery, as well as exotic animal surgery and medicine. C-J refers to herself as a 'Crazy Guinea Pig Lady' and these furry creatures are what inspired a young C-J to become a Vet. Be her patients furred or scaled, C-J is committed to providing the best standard Veterinary of care.
Dr Madison Greinke
Who is Madi when she is not being a vet?
A lover of all things outdoors! Madi loves getting her fingers into the dirt and tending to her rainforest garden while keeping an ear and eye out for the local birds. Having recently moved from Townsville, you may even run into her taking the opportunity to prefect her hang ten in the waves. She has a keen interest in wildlife care having rescued and rehabilitated kangaroos, possums, gliders, bats and even a tree kangaroo!
Madi graduated from James Cook University after some extra tuitions time thanks to COVID in early 2021 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.
Madi is keen on all things wildlife and exotics and is looking forward to developing her skills in the coming years. She is also passionate about providing a holistic approach to pet health care, encompassing preventative medicine, nutrition and environmental enrichment.
Who is Carissa when she is not being a Veterinary Nurse?
Carissa is a mum to two beautiful daughters, two dogs (Bella & MR) and a very cheeky cockatoo named Sydney. She loves being outdoors, renovating and landscaping, dancing, listening to music and spending time at the beach with her family and fur babies.
Carissa followed her love and passion of animals and graduated with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2015. She made the career change after being a Chef for 9 years!
Carissa enjoys all aspects of nursing but has a keen interest in surgical nursing, caring for hospitalised patients, animal welfare, exotics and wildlife.
Who is Rebecca when she is not being a Veterinary Nurse?
Rebecca loves spending time with her husband and two kids, swimming, watching movies and exploring the Sunshine Coast. She especially loves to travel and try to not go back to the same place twice as she loves the variety the world has to offer.
Rebecca has been in the industry since 1999 and holds a Certificate III in Veterinary Nursing.
Rebecca is very interested in internal medicine. This passion began during her time working within Emergency where she was exposed to a variety of different diseases and illnesses. This exposure sparked an interest that led her to make an effort to learn about disease and how it affects the body.
Who is Zoe when she is not being a Veterinary Nurse?
When she's not vet nursing Zoe is very busy on her 125 acre cattle farm where she breeds Draught Master Cattle. She has 45 beautiful heifer breeders and one very friendly and busy bull called Willie Nelson. She loves nothing more than caring for and working with her cattle with her partner Jason, her two stock horses Olive and Peyote, her Cattle Dog Duke and her Kelpie Rhonda.
Zoe also loves working in her vege garden where she grows an abundance of vegetables and herbs. Her two cats Barry and Albi like to hang out with her in the garden where they keep a watchful eye on her 8 free range chickens.
Zoe loves the outdoors and runs 5kms with Rhonda every morning who being an energetic Kelpie is a good training partner!!
Zoey has Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has now been nursing for over 7 years.
Zoe has a passion for surgical nursing and ensures her patients have gold standard care from the time of admission into hospital until the time they go home to their families. She loves sitting with patients in recovery and giving cuddles and making sure they wake up with love. Zoe has worked in practice manager roles however is happiest when she is being hands on with her patients.
Who is Tanesha when she is not being a vet nurse?
When Tanesha is not at work she enjoys spending time with her fur children, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 4 horses. She also loves exploring new places whether they be within Australia or Overseas.
Tanesha is currently studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and has 2 years experience in the industry.
Tanesha has a special interest in surgery and internal medicine.
Who is Sam when she is not being a vet nurse?
Sam is the newest member to join the Nambour Vet family. She has recently relocated from her home town Hervey Bay to the Sunshine Coast area. She is loving the fast paced lifestyle and always having something to do. She spends most her time socialising, connecting with new people and hanging out down at the beach. She also has a fur baby named ‘Layla’ who is a border collie cross staffy. Layla keeps her busy in her spare time with lots of walks and new adventures.
Sam has completed her Cert ll studies and is currently studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, with 4 years’ experience in the industry.
Sam has a special interest in internal medicine. Having individual cases occurring every day there is always something new to learn about different treatment pathways.
